Fukuoka Tower
Fukuoka Tower, 234 m high, with an observation deck 123 m above ground was always a definite sight seeing spot for us …. Geoff always has to visit the highest point wherever we go! Fascinatingly it has been built to withstand winds as strong as 63m/second and an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 7.
We went up Tokyo Skytree on a previous visit to Tokyo, so a trip up Tokyo Tower is long overdue. I’m not too convinced we will visit all the others though!
Within the tower there were many opportunities to spend money … the inevitable photos, refreshments, souvenirs … but also this heart shaped photo corner where the arch lights up for photos & you are able to add a padlock onto the ‘fence of vows’. And how convenient that you can buy your padlock from a vending machine around the corner!
I am a sucker from fortune telling, superstitions etc so I am well placed in Japan! The final destination of your pinball on this machine in the tower fixed your luck. I was awarded with 4**** for average or better luck whilst poor Geoff only manage 1*. But all is not lost; you fold up your fortune cards & deposit them in a nearby receptacle so that you luck can further grow. And to ensure my success in negotiations I did purchase some Niwaka-Senpei as a souvenir
I’m not sure what I am negotiating on, so I can’t measure my success!

I love the metal bird sculptures.
I am a little concerned that your fortune readout reckons you are still waiting for your ideal mate after being with Geoff for so many years!!
As I have no head for heights I certainly don’t share Geoff’s obsession with climbing to the top of tall towers. Every so often the promised views tempt me to try but I always regret it as they never quite manage to make the overwhelming feeling of panic and nausea seem worthwhile. I will just join in vicariously through your blogs instead. X
Everywhere we go we have to seek out the highest point & we always choose to live high up so we must love heights. Having said that, Geoff is such a wimp if I try to persuade him to walk over glass platforms that are high up! And I’m not sure about my fortune readings either but they make me chuckle. x
