Arriving in Hong Kong …

Monday 13th July, with face masks on, we left Bristol at 07.15 and eventually took off our face masks (changed on a number of occasions) some 34 hours later. Hong Kong has a statutory 14 day quarantine for all passengers entering the country, and I will share with you the procedure and process of quarantine.

Secret traveller!

We arrived early at 06.30 (HK time) and spent a couple of hours being ‘processed’ – temperature taken, QR code of health form checked, wristbands fitted, Stay Home Safe app installed on phones, and onto the testing area. I feared the ‘brain scrape’ test but to my great relief HK tests are spit tests. Much clearing of the throat & contents funnelled into a test tube and completed within a two hour period, with the staff involved very friendly and helpful. And then the wait for the results …… take yourself back to school exams. The icily air-conditioned hall was set out with around 300 individual table & chairs carefully spaced to avoid any close contact. And this is where we sat for eight hours until they called out that all on our flight had tested negative & we were allowed to go.
