St David’s Day

St David’s Day

I have joined the committee of St David’s Society Japan and we finally held our event one month and one day late. Of course Covid was the reason for the delay, but we added another day to avoid April 1st just in case people thought we were joking.

It made me reflect on the St David’s events that I have attended …. just 3 and none in Wales! A posh ball in Hong Kong with Jiffy as guest, a daytime fundraising event in Hong Kong that friend Helen & I organised, and finally an event in Tokyo. All so different!

Here in Tokyo, 44 people attended and it was so good to be meeting people in person. And I loved that I was able to persuade English and Japanese friends to attend. We raised 45,000 yen (£280) to be given to a rugby charity in Oita as a thank for their support of Wales at the time and 34,000 yen to International Red Cross for work in Ukraine.

No fresh daffodils though!

Fabulous daffodils on this lady’s kimono. Below, handmade huge daffodils and young assistant who selected the raffle tickets & my Ukraine collection box; I have finally found a use for washi tape!
