We took a trip to Hiroshima; it seemed somewhat appropriate in these gloomy times. The Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park have been designated a World Heritage Site.

This dome, the Genbaku Dome, was the only standing building in this area after the Atomic bomb explosion.

On the site of the Peace Park there is also a museum that contains personal belongings of the victims, photographs and other artefacts from the bombing. For many reasons, we chose not to visit.
