Yokohama
This is the second largest city in Japan … but to me it seems like a continuation of Tokyo since it is less than 30 minutes on the train. We spent time exploring the most recently developed areas, Minato Mirai, along the seafront and only afterwards I realised that I hadn’t seen a single temple or shrine!
Landmark Tower
Not only coastal views but a tower to view them from …. this one a mere 273 metres though.
Flower Festival
The gardens were full of wonderful themed display gardens … all unguarded and presumably without any security at night. It is unconceivable that this would happen almost anywhere outside Japan.
Chinatown
This is one of the largest Chinatowns in Japan with allegedly 600 shops within a 250,000 sq m area, but having lived in Hong Kong & travelled in China I think it lacks authenticity …. lots of food, huge huge numbers of fortune tellers but no stalls or shops selling counterfeit goods!
